Fullmetal Alchemist Live-Action Film Will Be Out in a Year

Fullmetal Alchemist fans may need to console themselves with reruns of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. And maybe even the Fullmetal Alchemist anime that barely makes the cut save a few episodes.

That’s because we still have an entire year to wait out before we get a dose of the awaitedFullmetal Alchemist live-action movie.

Anime News Network reported that the movie is now dated for a December 2017 theatrical release in Japan. As a sneak peek though, you can enjoy Roy Mustang’s costume, which had been showcased at the Tokyo Comic Con, via the link above.

I have to say, that’s a pretty nice replica from the anime version, down to the color and his occasionally worn overcoat. I would’ve loved to see the gloves, but we’ll get there once the movie is released.

Fullmetal Alchemist the movie will showcase the entire manga in a complete film, so we know that’s going to be a feat of itself. Edward will also be older at age 20, which hopefully won’t hinder in replicating the running chibi joke, as well as the humor in the anime.

Despite the very heavy subject of transmutation of humans and the grave sins of playing God, what gives Fullmetal Alchemist its character as a franchise is the humor that allows us to still feel good with the characters during the good moments. This balance is what made Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood the bigger success, in my opinion.

The official trailer can be seen below, just so you can torture yourself more with the long wait.
